Teacher, counselor, administrator and other educational personnel organizations are in place to help those in education with a wide variety of circumstances. Some organizations have been in existence for over a hundred years, some have thousands of members and others are unique in the membership and partnerships. Since I will be a future counselor soon, I have chosen to research the American Counseling Association. The American Counseling Association is unique in its creation because four separate entities came together with aspirations of providing a stronger platform for its members. These four groups came together in 1952 and were first called The American Personnel and Guidance Association. It went through another name change in 1983 and once again in 1992 in which it was finally called what it is today, the American Counseling Association. They believe that their new name would help establish their principles, show comradery among its members and let others know who they are. It s headquarters are located near Washington D.C. in Virginia, and have members in over 50 countries. It has an extensive base, including 18 sectors and over 56 subdivisions, along with other partnership to further help the organization and its clientele. The four survivors are rescued and brought to a strange, almost magical, mountain monastery and village. The setting is lush and green despite the altitude. The people placid and friendly, but mysteriously quiet about the prospects for returning to civilization, so remote is the village. Despite his knowledge Conway leaves with Malinson in an attempt to reach India on foot. They are deceived and the journey is a tragic one. Conway managed to reach civilization and then is desperate to leave to make his return back to Shangri-La, to accept his position as successor to the deceased High Lama. Basically, the story is a spiritual journey for those who see what it is they have stumbled upon, Shangri-La: paradise on Earth. Conway is given an audience with the High Lama but remains quiet as to what is going on. People age years instead of decades, there is no crime or war or hunger. The novel teaches us that desire itself corrupts mankind. Buddhism teaches that nirvana is the end of desire for anything at all, even life itself. Hilton takes this idea and uses it to create his utopia. In Shangri-La, no one wants anything because everyone has everything they need. Children are indoctrinated in courtesy and etiquette even when they are still very young. They are taught to share and love. If two men desire the same woman, one is willing to let go. Passion and ambition are not good. The basis of all human emotion is desire, and when all desire is eliminated, you achieve a utopia. From July 19,through March 31, 1993 a total of 3,665 domestic violencecases were reviewed in Portland Oregon. Of those, only 281 cases resulted insome action taken against the accused abuser. For the last six months of 1993 and the first three months of 1994Portland averaged about 1,000 calls each month or 12,000 calls a year. Reputations In Othello Reputations of the main characters and its role in Othello In the play Othello written by William Shakespeare, the theme of reputation was a very important part of what made the play tragic. Reputation was so important in the play that it could have gave insight to characters or allowed characters to have manipulated others and it allowed for the tragedy of Othello to have been unfolded. Reputation of characters was an important factor for all the characters in Othello but reputation was most important for Iago, Othello and Cassio. When Shakespeare wrote Othello he intended for the reader to have scrutinized the theme of reputation so the reader could have understood where characters and the plot of the story had developed from. Reputation played an important role in how the reader was meant to have perceived the characters of the play. Iago had a flawless reputation, he was considered so loyal and compassionate he was known throughout most of the novel as ?honest?(II.iii.329) Iago. Iago is regarded as a close companion of Othello as well as Cassio, and Iago had a deep hate for both of these men and knew his reputation could help him get his revenge on them. Iago understood that reputation played such a big part in how people saw a person, that based on his reputation he could have became a two faced adversary without a problem. Iago proved the point of a reputation's importance when wanted to leave Roderigo in act one, because if Iago stayed it would look this Iago was a traitor to Othello and this would flaw his reputation. The reputation of the antagonist of the play was not the only reputation important to the play but the tragic hero's and the catalyst's reputation also played an important role to the play. Othello the tragic hero of this play had a reputation that helped him raise himself up in society. Othello's reputation served several purposes throughout the play, first it proved he was a good and noble person, secondly it won Desdemona over for him and lastly it helped him stay out of trouble because of his esteemed position in society. Othello's reputation saves him from the confrontation with Barbantio as well as won him a wife. Othello proved this when he was confronted with stealing Desdemona away from Barbantio and the Duke and the senators listened to Othello when he stated, ?She loved me for the dangers I had passed, And I loved her that she did pity them. Coupled with a Naval blockade that crippled Japan's ability to gain the resources to wage war, it was only a question of when the surrender would occur. By June 1945, General Curtis LeMay estimated that U.S. airstrikes would have no Japanese targets left by October 1945 (Long). As early as June 1945, the U.S. had intercepted cables from the Japanese to the Russians seeking aid in an offer to surrender (Lewis). With Japan weakening, the Potsdam Declaration of July 1945 called for Japan's unconditional surrender. The harsh rhetoric of the declaration, aimed at the Japanese, indicated that Emperor Hirohito would be deposed and treated as a war criminal. Due to the Japanese religious belief that the emperor was a God, the Proclamation was unacceptable even to the Japanese peace movement. While Japan attempted to negotiate surrender through Russia, the U.S. held fast demanding the complete dismantling of the Japanese authority. The fate of the emperor, and the unwillingness of the U.S. to have Russia broker the deal, were the main points impeding a calculated surrender. Leading scientists as well as military leaders of this period overwhelmingly opposed using the new dreadful weapon. Most found its use against a civilian population repugnant. Many of them suggested a demonstration to the Japanese of its awesome capabilities in an effort to persuade them into surrender. Most agreed that a demonstration would be less than effective and a waste of a bomb. Truman writes in his private diary of July 25, 1945, that he has ordered the bomb dropped on a purely military target and spare civilians, women, and children (Truman Diary). It was clear by his diary entry that he understood the ramifications of the bomb's destructive capability. Truman had quipped that the Japanese would fight to their last dying man and an invasion would cost a million American lives. These were anecdotal estimates and had no military basis. In fact, in the days before the bomb was dropped, Japan was trying to secure an acceptable surrender that would maintain the Emperor's fate. Yet, in the face of scientific opposition and military skepticism, Truman stuck to the order to drop the bombs and struck Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. A second strike hit Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. When the bomb was dropped, the American public shared Truman's enthusiasm laced with a hint of the gloom that rose over the horizon. Vietnam War Paper Essay The Vietnam War was a conflict between the communist, North Vietnam and South Vietnam. In the wake of the Second World War western fears of a communist expansion throughout Asia were running high. The United States was concerned that if North Vietnam succeed and turned Vietnam into a communist state, neighboring countries were also likely to follow. As an ally of the United States and Australia’s involvement in South-East Asia Treaty Organization and the Australia New Zealand United States Security Treaty and the belief in forward defence Australia was an enthusiastic supporter of the American policy in Vietnam. The majority of Australians supported the countrys involvement in the Vietnam War in its early years mainly because of the threat of communism. Australia felt that if communism dominated South Vietnam it would be an even bigger risk to Australia because of the domino effect. If Vietnam fell into communism so will its neighboring countries including Australia. Australia did not want to fall into communism and agreeing to the request for help by South Vietnam, Australia supported the war and troops were immediately sent to Vietnam. The decision to send the army to Vietman was also made by the Older Australians which were part of the group called the Returned Servicemens League. These people believed in the idea of the Anzac Spirit and expected the younger generation to do their bit as they had during World War II. The Australian People and Liberal Party rallied behind the leadership of Menzies. Therefore, the Liberal Party was also in agreement with Australias involvement in the Vietnam War. In 1966, Australia warmly welcomed the visit of the American president, Lyndon Baines Johnson. The new prime minister of Australia enthusiastically declared that when it came to Vietnam, Australia was all the way with LBJ, which meant that Australia was willing to support the US in supporting the Vietnam War. The Democratic Labor Party at that time who split from the Labor Party had a very large Catholic membership and was also very anti-communist. It was also determined to oppose any ALP policies so it automatically supported the war. After the first announcement of sending troops there was a general support from the news outlets for the governments policy. This wasn’t the kind of support shown in Australia’s involvement in previous wars. There was little mention of words like heroic and more mention of words like grave  decision’. Many of the papers simply said Australia had no alternative, given its geographical position and its treaty commitments. The support was there, but it was muted and it tended to question the political situation in South Vietnam. Australian Catholics had been encouraged to see South Vietnam as not only the last democracy in South East Asia, but as a Catholic democracy. There was widespread support for the government of the Republic of Vietnam, even after the assassination of the Catholic leader Ngo Dinh Diem. At the same time as the Australian government made the announcement that it was sending troops, the Pope called for negotiations to take place in Vietnam for a peaceful resolution. Many Australian Catholics did not see the Popes announcement as any reason not to support the commitment of troops to South Vietnam and so they were in support. There was even a large section of the community who seemed to take no interest in what was going on in South East Asia. Many people believed Vietnam to be too far away for the average person to care about. They were quite unconcerned about the war and firmly believed it should be left up to the government and the army to sort out. Sending troops off to fight in wars was seen by many ordinary Australians as not only the right thing to do but as a good way of increasing Australias prestige in the world. This caused a lot of people to automatically support the government without really questioning if it was a good idea or not. On the contrary, there were many people and organisations that were against this war. Anti-war protests had been taking place in Australia since 1962 when the first military advisors had been sent in to Vietnam. Since then, protests had taken place for various reasons at various times, but it was not until the P.M.’s announcement in April 1965 to provide an infantry battalion for service in Vietnam for ‘further military assistance’ when protests really began to take shape. This opposition was a result of extensive media coverage, a unequal system of conscription and growing political consciousness. A lot of violent and gruesome footage of the war was broadcasted right into peoples homes every evening. Many protests were the result of this. Conscription introduced in November 1964 had forced young men to fight away from their home country. Many people saw this as unfair and wrong. This too caused a lot of controversy and many arguments were made against the government for  introducing this. The ALP was against the commitment of troops to Vietnam. The Labor leader Arthur Calwell had the unenviable job of responding to the government in parliament. Labor saw the war as essentially a civil one in which Australia should not get involved. Calwell did say that they would back the Australian troops and not deny them the support they would need. Many of the trade unions called the government support of Americas foreign policy in Vietnam diggers for dollars. They believed the Australian government was sacrificing the lives of Australian troops to ensure that America would boost the economy by spending more money in Australia. In response to this belief and the announcement of more troops being sent to Vietnam, unions wanted to hold work stoppages in protest. The Australian Council of Trade Unions followed the Labor Party policy of not supporting the war but not denying the soldiers support. In later years, no other group would be more associated with anti-war activities, but reaction in the universities immediately after the announcement. Educated university students didnt see the point in continuing a futile war. They thought that young men being forced to go to war was unnecessary, it disturbed their lives and the potential to live to their dreams. They also thought that the enormous amount of money used on the war should be spent on helping their own count. The fact that it was an overseas war and that it had nothing to do with us was another reason for opposition. The reason why they were opposing the war is because they considered that Australia is following USA blindly, it is not our war and they also didnt like the idea of young men being forced into war and innocent woman, elders and children being killed due to the war. There was also a large and angry anti-war movement growing. There were public draft-card burnings, student sit ins and large noisy group demonstrations when the American President, Johnson visited Australia. By the late 1960s a much stronger and more violent form of protest appeared. Protesters raided officers and campaigns were launched to persuade young men not to register for conscription. The Labor Party was against the conscription method, calling it unfair, and they had much support from the Australian public. We should stop following US policy blindly The women of SOS â€Å"put on their hats and gloves and carried their blue and white banners high to the army barracks, to court, to Parliament House, to the City Sq uare, and even, in 1969, to Vietnam itself. Most of the SOS members were  ordinary middle-class and working-class women, wives and mothers, who had no connections to the radical youth counter-culture, but they educated themselves and others on the situation in Vietnam and on the laws associated with conscription and conscientious objection. In the process, their politics became increasingly radical. Later, Following the success of the November 1969 Moratorium in the United States, a series of Australian’s groups opposed to the war in Vietnam decided to band together to put on a Moratorium in Australia. The demonstration in Melbourne, led by Member of Parliament Jim Cairns, had over 100,000 people taking to the streets in Melbourne alone. Across Australia, it was estimated that 200,000 people were involved. The second Vietnam Moratorium in September 1970 was smaller after more violence occurred. 50 000 people participated and there were violent incidents between police. Two hundred people were arrested in Sydney. The third moratorium in June 1971 were of nearly 100 000 people. By this time public opinion was beginning to turn assertively against conscription and Australian‘s involvement in the war. The intensity of the conflict in Australia over our involvement in Vietnam, and the issue of conscription, contributed to the election of a Labor government in December 1972. Universality and the Particular â€Å"History,† Gilman writes, â€Å"is, or should be, the story of our racial life† (Gilman 216). Eliot is a bit less succinct, but perhaps he could be most pithily summed up as saying: â€Å"The business of the poet is not to find new emotions, but to use the ordinary ones and, in working them up into poetry, to express feelings which are not in actual emotions at all† (Eliot 1919, 23). It is not immediately evident what either author means by these statements, however, they both contain the core of the argument. Both authors have their individual aims and intents with their writings, however, in spite of the differences, their arguments find more common ground than disagreement. Their terminology is certainly different, but they see the purpose and aims of literature as by and large the same. Literature, according to Gilman, originated as the â€Å"legitimate child of oral tradition, a product of natural brain activity† (218). Implicit in this, and made explicit elsewhere, is that literature is inherently a form of communication. And, â€Å"since our very life depends on some communication,† Gilman indicates very strongly that literature, both in its ancestry and in its current incarnation, provides an extremely important role in our existence† (218). She elaborates on this notion of communication, however, and specifies that a â€Å"passionate interest in other people’s lives†¦is the most vital art† (218). To her, the expression of the â€Å"great field of human life† is the task of all literature and is crucial to the very existence of society (218). We can presume that there is some bias in her argument, as people tend to think highly of their chosen craft. The clarity and relevance is sought in the objectives planned in order to make the communication strategy more applicable and effective. Monitoring the objectives effectiveness after the planning stage can lead to more improvisation on the same, wherever needed. It is essential to include all the mandate objectives and goals of the company to ensure there is a smooth execution corporate communication, both internally and externally (Coombs, W. T., & Holladay 2011) 4.2 Select the audiences to influence with a corporate communications strategy Customers or audience of a company forms a crucial part of the company, impacting its sales volume and profitability. Audience influence is hence associated in each aspect of its communication strategy. When the product is properly communicated to the target customers, the message will become clear to the customers and thereby more customers are attracted to the product. This can increase the sales of the products of the company. Hence, it is essential for the firm to formulate the ideal and most efficient communication strategies that will have an impact on the customers in a higher degree. More clarity and reliability are sought by customers through communication strategies and this need to be incorporated in the corporate communication strategies for better audience base(Keller et al. 2011). 4.3 Plan appropriate measures to monitor a planned corporate communications strategy Monitoring the effectiveness of a corporate strategy is an integral part in the company as this will help to identify the pitfalls and the necessary corrective steps can be taken on an immediate basis without any delays. This will also helps to improve communication with internal and external stakeholders. One of such measuring element is to create SMART (Specific,  measurable, attributable, realistic, time bound) objectives. Also, needs to look at both the quantitative and qualitative aspects of corporate communication strategies. The outcome of the strategy needs to be evaluated so as to identify the rectifications (Karaosmanoglu & Melewar 2006). Task 5 Reflective Learning Statement From this report, it can be understood that corporate communication strategies forms a prominent part of any organization. There is a vital need to ensure these are framed considering every aspects of communication related to both internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders. The effectiveness of corporate communication strategies is ensured by conducting corporate communication internal and external audit. This involves a series of steps wherein all the stakeholders both inside and outside the company are surveyed to identify the impact of the prevailing communication on them. This helps the company to know where it lags behind and what all improvements it needs to take in the future to ensure a more effective corporate communication strategy. Corporate communication strategy is also related to corporate objectives as the attainment of business goals and selling of products, influence of the target audience etc are based on the effectiveness of corporate communication stra tegies(Roth 2014). Patient teaching plan Essay

During a clinical rotation we come into contact with many patients, from many different backgrounds, with many different disease processes which effect their systems. Each patient has their own manifestations, of signs and symptoms, along with courses of action which are taken to best meet their individual needs. One of the tools used when caring for a patient is education. CDC.gov states â€Å"A well-informed patient is more likely to cooperate if the patient understands† (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2011). Educating a patient allows a patient to be more involved in their care, and there is a greater possibility for compliance once the patient knows what to do, and why. As student nurses one of the ways we educate our patients is through use of a Patient teaching plan. The teaching plan incorporates general knowledge of the patient’s diagnosis, disease process, medication, and treatment. One of the patients I had the opportunity to care for was a 64 year old female which went by the initials E,M who was diagnosed with multiple system atrophy, anoxic brain injury, hypertension, dysphagia, hypothyroidism, and clostridium difficile. When looking into the condition of the patient, we find that the reason she presented with many of the signs and symptoms that she did is because of her medical diagnosis, and the disease process. With manifestations such as loose foul smelling stool, and hyperactive bowel sounds for clostridium difficile; comatose state, along with quadriparesis, apraxia, and rigidity for anoxic brain injury. While other parts of her medical diagnosis may be associated with, or related to another existing diagnosis. For example one of the symptoms of multiple system atrophy is difficulty swallowing, which is known as dysphagia which she has been diagnosed with as a medical diagnosis. An important aspect of the teaching plan is to also educate the patient on medication, and treatment of the disease. It is important to  emphasize to the patient that some of the medications they are taking may not be curative, but used as prophylaxis, and for symptom management. Some of the medications my patient is currently prescribed are; Midodrine, Famotidine, Levothyroxine, Vancomycin, Clonazepam, and Psyllium. Each of these medications have a specific purpose in managing the disease process and symptoms that my patient exhibits. When we look at Vancomycin we know that the patient is taking this medicine for treatment for their clostridium difficile. With this drug there are many facts that the patient needs to know; such as being aware of dosing, associated risks like issues with hearing, and toxicity to the body. While drugs like Levothyroxine have a series of side effects which differ from the others, ranging in severity. It is associated with weight loss, hair loss, irregular breathing, to signs of over dose; like change or loss in consciousness, sudden slurring of speech, and sudden loss of coordination. It can be said that all drugs have side effects, but it is of utmost importance to teach the patient about things which can alter their lifestyle, or leave them debilitated, or dead. In order to have an effective teaching plan, one must look at the patient as a complete being, and not by just their disease process. Religion, and culture must be considered when developing the teaching plan, if things such as diet, or practices work contrary to their personal beliefs. Other aspects such as the patient’s education level, and cognitive ability are important things that must be considered; if not considered you can be wasting a lot of time and energy, using ineffective methods because the patient may not be able to understand you, or they may even speak a foreign language. Family is another part to be considered during teaching, they can be an added help or hindrance causing noncompliance especially when it comes to other factors; such as age, and if the person is independent for decision making. Although every teaching plan is different, and received by each patient in their own way, they are important for getting precise information across, and give patient’s information that is needed to empower themselves, and be better caregivers to themselves. She knows that she is sick, and in the hospital, and experiencing many different signs, and symptoms associated with her disease, such as diarrhea. She also knows she is taking a medicine to help her with that. She also knows that her blood pressure has periods of it dropping. What does the client need to know? The client needs know that the name of the medicine she is taking for clostridium difficile is Vancomycin 250mg capsule four times a day. She also needs to know that she has to follow the protocol when taking this medication. Meaning she has to take it as directed by the Doctor; not missing a dose, and to complete the medication. Not completing the medication, and taking it as directed, can cause resistance of the organism to the medication. She also needs to know that she will need to have labs done to check if therapeutic levels have been obtained, or toxic levels. What does the client need to know? She also needs to know that she is on midodrine for hypotentsion, even though she has a diagnosis of hypertension. She needs to be aware that midodrine can cause hypertension, and headaches, fainting, and dizziness, and that she should notify the doctor if she has any of those symptoms. Teaching Plan: (3 points) Teaching objectives: Teach patient about importance of taking medicine, and completing it. Teach that she may be taking medication long term Content: Medication, How it should be taken, side effects, what to do if side effects occur Time Frame: The patient will be able to tell me the medication she is taking, and how she is supposed to take it by the end of the teaching lesson. The patient will be on the Vancomycin x14 days as per M.D, then will be tested upon completion of medication to see if it works. Stool samples will be collected for testing, to know if she is now positive or negative for clostridium difficile. The patient will start midodrine 10mg as needed, up to three doses a day for hypotension. Teaching Strategies: (2 points) Who is involved: The Nurse is involved doing the teaching, to the patient and her husband, since her husband helps her with care. When: This will be done  before discharge, and upon starting medication. The optimal time for this will be in the morning so that this information cause be fresh in her mind Where: This will take place at the patient’s bedside. How: This will be done in a private way with the family of the patient present for support. Instruction, and demonstration will Evaluation: (2 points)  Client response or feedback: I understand that I am taking Vancomycin to counter my c-diff. I also understand that once the medication is started, that I need to keep taking it until I complete it. I am aware that I will need to be tested to make sure I am free of this infection. I will inform my Doctor if I experience any kind of alleregic reaction, or if I begin to get redness all over my body. I will report any headache, blurred vision, or dizziness when taking midodrine. I will also purchase a blood pressure machine to check before I take this medication. Were objectives met? Describe. Yes. The patient is clearly able to state why she is taking the medication. She also understands side effects of the medications, and voices that the M.D must be called. What is the next step / new plan? I will teach the patient the importance of washing hands to prevent the spread of infection. Night by Elie Wiesel Essays Night by Elie Wiesel Essay Night by Elie Wiesel Essay NIGHT Introduction The Holocaust was the attempt by the Nazi regime to systematically exterminate the European Jewish race during World War II. The Holocaust was a reference to the murder of around six million Jews and other minority groups such as homosexuals, gypsies and the disabled (Wiesel, 2008). In the 1930’s the Jewish population in Romania was around half a million. However, during World War II most of those Jews sent to the labour barracks or death camps (Wiesel, 2008). Set the scene of the reader, what is it about? Night by Elie Wiesel is about his experiences in the Nazi concentration camps of Auschwitz and Buchenwald in 1944 to 1945, at the height of the Holocaust and toward the end of the Second World War. It is a terrifying account  of the Nazi death camp horror that turns a naive young boy into an agonized witness of the death of  his family, his innocence and the  death and loss of faith in his God (Wiesel, 2008). The Jews of Sighet, Romania, remained in denial that anything awful would happen to them. Elie, a 15-year-old boy was forced into the Sighet ghetto and then onto the transport which arrived at Auschwitz, where the Jews were powerless to do anything to save themselves (Wiesel, 2008). I wanted to show the end, the finality of the event. Everything came to an end- man, history, literature, religion, God. There was nothing left. And yet we begin again with night (Wiesel, 2008). In the first page (p. 20) Elie describes the Germans as pleasant. How does he come to this conclusion? To what purpose would the Germans pretend to be likeable to the Jewish community? When the Germans first arrived in Sighet, they were friendly and pleasant, â€Å"their attitutude toward their hosts was distant, but polite. They never demanded the impossible, made no unpleasant comments, and even smiled occasionally at the mistress of the house†(Wiesel, 2008). It appeared that the Germans wanted to gain the trust of the Jewish community to maintain the peace within the community before turning on them (Wiesel, 2008). While everyone was packed in the ghetto waiting for news of what was happening, Elie’s father returned from a meeting and told those gathered that they were being deported. Elie and his family were packed into cattle cars and taken to Auschwitz. As the train arrived, they saw smoke rising from chimneys and were assailed by the horrific smell of burning flesh (Wiesel, 2008). Describe what Elie calls the ‘death race’? The Death Race was the race by the Germans to kill as many Jews as they could. They wanted to wipe out the entire Jewish race to develop a German ‘master race’ (Wiesel, 2008). The Germans were pushing the Jewish community towards death to see who survived. The Passover ended, â€Å"the curtain rose† (Wiesel, 2008) and the Germans â€Å"arrested the leaders of the Jewish community† (Wiesel, 2008). Elie states, â€Å"from that moment, everything happened very quickly. The race toward death had begun† (Wiesel, 2008). It was at first a slow progression from limiting the rights of the Jewish people, to wearing the Star of David and then to the attempted extermination. The Germans then began a race to kill the Jews as quickly as they could (Wiesel, 2008). Why do you think the prisoner told Elie and his father to lie about their ages? As they arrived at Auschwitz, a prisoner told Elie and his father to lie about their age in order to avoid the crematorium (Wiesel, 2008). Those deemed fit to work were sent to the labour barracks, whereas children and the elderly were sent to the gas chambers (Wiesel, 2008). In the first paragraph of chapter 3 Elie refers to the loss of the last of their illusions, what illusions might he be referring to? Elie refers to the loss of the last of their illusions because the Jews thought that, while overcrowded, they would remain safe in the Ghetto until the end of the war, until â€Å"the arrival of the Red Army† (Wiesel, 2008). They thought the Russian Army would save them. This is the meaning of the illusion, it was technically all a dream as Elie states, â€Å"the cherished objects we brought with us this far were left behind in the train, and with them, at last our illusions† (Wiesel, 2008). Conclusion The Holocaust is â€Å"a history of enduring horror and sorrow† (Wiesel, 2008). Never could anyone imagine such evil, such a horrific event happening in our world. This innocent young boy witnessed the depths of human cruelty and the heights of human disgrace (Wiesel, 2008). This unimaginable historic event breached a large number of articles of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, commencing at Article 1 which states that â€Å"all human being are born free and equal in dignity and rights† (United Nations, 2013). The inmates of the concentration camps had their freedom, dignity and rights were taken away. Other Articles breached were 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 21, 25, 26 and 28. This novel outlines â€Å"the ever-increasing horrors that Elie endured, the loss of his family and his struggle to survive in a world that stripped him of humanity, dignity and faith† (Wiesel, 2008). Never will Elie Wiesel forget that horrific and barbaric experience he encounted as a 15 year old boy, watching people murdered and the smell of burning flesh and the murder of members of his family. Never shall I forget the little faces of the children, whose bodies I saw turned into wreaths of smoke beneath a silent blue sky† (Wiesel, 2008), â€Å"never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as long as God himself. Cryptid is of recent coinage, suggested in 1983 by J. E. Wall in a publication of the International Society of Cryptozoology, as a word â€Å"to replace sensational and often misleading terms like monster.† Note: The Google Ngram Viewer shows use of cryptid as early as 1963, but the appearance in the ISC newsletter is most likely the cause of the word’s meteoric rise from 1990 to the present.
